Predictive Maintenance on SAP B1: When IoT Is Worth It

Predictive maintenance is not a Phase 1 default. It only pays when you already capture machine signals and close work orders in SAP.

Rajkot foundries and Morbi kilns lose hours to unplanned stops. SAP PM or production downtime logs tell you what already failed. Sensors tell you what is drifting — vibration, current draw, furnace temperature — before the stop.

Skip this until the plant is ready

If there is no PLC, meter, or gateway data, do not buy a “predictive AI” add-on. Start with SAP production and read-only analytics. Add IoT when the line is instrumented.

How we join the data

Edge gateways read machine or furnace parameters. SAP holds work-order history and downtime codes. The model scores risk; planners still raise SAP maintenance orders. This assists the plant head — it does not replace SAP production.
